WILL OF HUGH WASSON - In the name of God Amen. I Hugh Wasson of Centre Township, County of Butler and state of Pennsylvania being weak in body, but of sound mind and memory do make ordain and constitute this my last will and testament hereby disanull all and every other will and testament which have been made by me and the first place, I recommend my soul to God through the merits of Jesus Christ, and my body to the earth to be buried at the discretion of my executors, hereafter named with decent Christian burial doubting nothing, but at the resurrection of the same shall be raised to life again. And as to what worldly wealth God has been pleased to favour me with, I give and bequeth to my wife Mary Wasson her living off the place I now live on and she must have the front room and the small back room with the fire for her own use. And William Wasson is to provide a sufficient quantity of wood and coal for fires and she is to have her living off the place and to have choice of a horse creature and two cows and six sheep to be kept free on the place.
I bequeth to my son Joseph Wasson one hundred and fifty acres of land more or less ajoining James Philips on the south, Hugh Wasson on the east. In said place a stone house is erected or built and one hundred acres of a tract of land adjoining Robert Crofford on the north and William Dixon on the east. Said hundred acres is to be run off adjoining Withrup unless agreed upon by the parties farming it. Said land lies in Scrubgrass Township Venango County. To my son William Wasson three hundred acres of the place I now live on including my improvement one hundred acres or one fourth part of the south end adjoining Robert Wilson if there is more than four hundred acres in said tract it is to be equally divided between Wm. and Sarah Wasson as being her part of said described land with a horse and saddle valued to sixty dollars, two cows and six sheep one good bedstead and a good bureau - the above described one hundred acres of land is to be left to Sarah and her children. And to my daughter Mary Wasson one hundred acres of land one half of an undivided tract adjoining land of Robert Crofford on the north - William Dickson on the east this said described land is left to Mary and Joseph Wasson as their own real property for their own support and their children. Said land lies in Scrubgrass township Venango County. And to my daughter Anne Wasson one hundred acres of land lying on the waters of crooked creek in Armstrong County be laid off at the west end adjoining land of Thomas Gallaher. Anne is to have the use of said land until Hugh Wasson Fleming is twenty one and if he should not live to that age, said land is to be divided equally among daughters. If said land is sold the one fourth part of the price of said tract is to be divided in this above described manner. Also to my grand son Joseph Wasson Graham one hundred dollars when he comes to the age of twenty one to be paid out of my property by the executors. Also to my grand daughter Mary Ann Fleming one hudnred dollars to be paid to her at the age of twenty one. And if said Mary Anne should not live to that age said one hundred dollars is to be divided equally amongst my daughter Anne's children except the son that gets the hundred acres of land. My son Joseph and William is to be equal shares in my waggon and Joseph is to have the harrow. I do hereby constitute my wife Mary Wasson and Joseph and William the sole executors of this my last will and testament. And to see that the same be carried into execution. Personally appeared before me the subscribed Register for the probate of wills and granting letters of administration in and for said county James Gorden and being duly sworn according to law deposes to and saith that he was present on the 24th day of June 1836 and saw Hugh Wasson the testator sign the foregoing will and publish it to be his last will and testament and he appeared to be of sound mind memory and understanding and he at his request and in his presence subscribed his name as witness thereto.
