• Notes

  The 1880 Census lists Terry Cahal's wife as "Elizabeth Jane" born in South Carolina. Reuben Cahal's death certificate lists her as "??? Giles," born in Mississippi. Given that Reuben’s middle name was Giles, I think it’s safe to assume that the census is correct about his mother’s name and birthplace. The Terry Cahal family is split across two pages (11 and 12). I'm making two separate Census Plus entries for them since the 1880 census did not use Sheets A/B. Both entries will be connected to this source.
